Political and Public Leadership

Case Studies

Over the past 12 years, we have supported emerging and established women political leaders in Kuwait, Afghanistan and multiple countries in Africa and Latin America. Our experience has shown that women who are mentored not only succeed and grow in their own political careers — they are compelled to ‘pay it forward’ by mentoring other emerging women leaders in politics.

Here are three case studies of members of the Global Leadership Network who are committed to advancing political participation for women:

Mu Sochua

Member of Parliament, and a watchdog for government transparency and accountability in Cambodia

Hafsat Abiola

Her Kudirat Initiative for Democracy runs campaigns to end violence against women and trains young female leaders in Nigeria.

Laura Alonso

Laura Alonso headed up a government accountability watchdog group in Argentina to expose corruption, then got elected to Congress.
