Justice Institutes on Gender-Based Violence

Justice Institutes on Gender-Based Violence

A key component of Voices Against Violence: The GBV Global Initiative is to provide advocacy support, prevention and technical assistance to gender-based violence (GBV) survivors and those working to address gender-based violence.

Vital Voices and the Avon Foundation for Women leveraged their long-standing relationship, and the success of the Global Partnership to End Violence Against Women to establish the Justice Institutes on Gender-Based Violence. The Justice Institutes follow an innovative and interactive training model, which facilitates the creation of a holistic and victim-centered response to addressing violence against women.

The Justice Institutes bring together judges, prosecutors, police officers and representatives of both governmental and non-governmental victim service providers for a comprehensive, multi-disciplinary training. Its goal is to improve victim protection, increase offender accountability and create a coordinated community response to gender based violence.

Working with our partner AEquitas: The Prosecutor’s Resource on Violence Against Women, we successfully completed Justice Institutes in Nepal, Mexico, India, Brazil and South Africa.

In 2016, we will be conducting Justice Institutes in Colombia, South Africa, India, Argentina, and Brazil.
