Afghan Child Education and Care Organization Fundraiser

On March 14, be sure to visit Busboys & Poets at 5th & K, 1025 5th St, NW, in Washington D.C. at 6:30 pm for a fundraising event hosted by AFCECO.

A message from Andeisha Farid on the event:

"In the coming month, we have a special opportunity to expand our community of sponsors, and we invite you to join us in making the most of this opportunity.

From now through March 21, three of our girls who excelled in last year’s leadership class will be visiting the United States for three months. During this time, Pashtana, Sahar and Menizha, together with our educational director, Ian Pounds, will be giving presentations across the country. T

he girls have already spoken to hundreds of people at schools, community groups and private functions, and the response has been universally positive. Everyone who has heard their stories is deeply moved and inspired.

During the coming month, there are three ways you can participate in making the girls’ tour an even greater success:

  • Attend one of the presentations. You’ll witness a living example of how sponsorship is making a difference by producing a new generation of Afghan leaders. These young women are the embodiment of hope for Afghanistan. They are smart, thoughtful, willing to share and, above all, absolutely committed to making Afghanistan a better place for all.

  • Encourage your friends, family and colleagues to attend a presentation, especially anyone you think may be interested in becoming a sponsor. The sustainability of AFCECO’s programs lies with the sponsorship of children, and right now there are two hundred children who are either partially sponsored or who have no sponsor at all. We urgently need to find sponsors for these children. Not only are sponsorships essential for the ongoing economic viability of our programs, but each child who is unsponsored is a child who misses out on the special relationship of sponsor and child and all the learning and joy that flow from that relationship.

  • Publicize the talks by sharing the presentation schedule with your own wider network.
